Sugar Lemon body scrub

I do not remember the last time I had used a store bought body scrub, must have been more than a decade. As when I found about and tried this homemade body scrub, my skin thanked me a million times and there was no looking back since then.

This is my most preferred body scrub as its simple, with least ingredients, no preps and still leaves me with a oh so soft skin! Like the softest it's ever been! I absolutely love how my skin feels all day thereafter.

BENEFITS - It exfoliates, helps shed dry skin & dead skin cells, hydrates, nourishes the fresh skin underneath, hence renews the skin leaving it extra-soft and glowing.

INGREDIENTS - White/brown granulated sugar and lemon (yup, that's it!!) 😊

Sugar removes dead skin cells and cleans pores, Lemon tightens pores and evens out the skin tone. This scrub also removes the dark spots and lightens the skin.

HOW TO USE - Take half a bowl of sugar and squeeze half/one lemon (depending on the size of the lemon). While in bath, thoroughly wet and soften your skin with warm water, cover your body with an adequate amount of body scrub (if it feels harsh on the skin, cover your body with soap first and then use scrub) and very gently massage using circular motions, allowing the sugar to scrub your skin. Let it sit for a few minutes and rinse off.

CAUTION - to avoid any damage and dryness to your skin...

1. Body should be wet thoroughly.

2. Do not use very hot water.

3. Massage 'very gently' into the skin- that's in fact, the GOLDEN RULE of skin-care, to always be very gentle with it!!!

HOW OFTEN - Ideally, should exfoliate our skin once per week. I admit I need more discipline on this front but I try to do it once in 2-3 weeks definitely as dead cells that stick around too long, can cause dull skin, clogged pores, uneven skin tone.

Sugar scrubs (pure cane-unrefined white sugar) in general, are good for all skin types as they contain essential nutrients to feed the skin. Sugar has small granules, which makes it the perfect choice for sensitive skin also. Esp brown sugar is the least abrasive, the gentlest and hence, best suited for sensitive skin.

This scrub is great for face as well, can be used by men, women and for kids. Nourishes the body and gives a much softer skin than what most of the market based body scrubs would give.

DISCLAIMER - Like any other skin and face product, do a patch test first, test on one small part of your body. If you've had skin issues or super-sensitive skin, talk to your dermatologist first. These tips can never and in no way, replace or substitute a doctor's advise or medication.

P.S. While this has been my go-to body scrub till now, but very recently a very sweet and generous friend shared about another body scrub, the one passed on to her through her mother. I was very quick in trying that and wow, loved luxuriating in the gorgeous body scrub. I cannot wait to share the deets with you. So, stay tuned...
