Style2Slay

Updated: Nov 8, 2019

Welcome to my very first blog!! :)

What better way to start than to talk about something which reflects my serious style affair! My love of dressing up in style.

The first one in my 'Style2Slay' series has to be a Saree! Being an Indian by origin, I have a natural crush for this attire. A Saree is a quintessential part of a woman’s wardrobe in the Indian subcontinent. Though its origin can be traced back to Indus Valley Civilisation but it has earned a lot of name and fame worldwide because of the graceful, elegant, sensual, gorgeous and stylish look it gives. Being in Europe from the last many years, I have been a witness to how women from different countries and cultures love to wear this outfit and find it very attractive. It's not without any reason that it is called ‘6-yards of grace’. The Saree drape can be classy, simple, stylish, contemporary, modern or fusion.

There are as many ways of draping a saree as there are styles available in the market. That makes saree the most versatile, experimental and the most favorite outfit of all Indian women.

“Sarees have received international acclaim in the present times due to their unparalleled charm”.

Today, I am featuring a Bandhani (bandhez) saree! It is my personal favorite as it can be worn on any occasion and comes in diverse patterns, colors, and prints. The cultural heritage of Rajasthan and Gujarat, it is made through a highly skilled process. The word ‘bandhani’ means tying up, the technique involves dyeing a fabric which is tied tightly with a thread at several points and thereby producing a variety of patterns. It comes in many fabrics- silk, cotton, cotton silk, chiffon, and georgette.

I wore this yellow and fuchsia bandhez saree at a friend’s house warming party. Anyone who has known me even a little bit knows how much I love playing with colors. Staying true to my spirit, I decided to ditch the original saree blouse and went for a completely different (but equally bright) color instead. As it's a self-printed saree so I chose a plain blouse with it. Mixing up and playing with different colors is so much in vogue and I absolutely love this trend! Out of these three gorgeous colors, it’s very difficult for me to choose one. I love all these three vibrant colors! And more!! :)

I chose my jewelry and the ethnic potli handbag to blend well with the white and golden theme of the saree. The blouse was plain so I picked up a long necklace and paired it with matching big studs. I wanted to revamp the style and the golden belt did that job!

To sum it up, a saree will continue to shine and make its mark in the fashion industry, in new fascinating avatars, for its elegance, versatility and sheer beauty.

Do you agree with me? Is saree, on the top of your most loved outfit list as well? I would love to have your views so do leave your comments below and mention your love for saree... :)
